Now is the Time!
Tell Congress to Protect Education Funding!
March 1st is fast approaching and unless Congress acts that means all education programs, and many other important federal programs will be cut by 5.1% on March 2nd. We want to show Congress that the needs of our children are important to us by flooding the hill with messages asking Congress to stop cuts to education and other programs that are vital to children and youth with disabilities, their families and the professionals who work with them.

Even though Congress and the Administration reached a deal on January 2, 2013 to avert the “fiscal cliff” it was only a temporary fix – Sequestration cuts are still looming. In fact, these cuts will now begin on Mar. 1, 2013, and still effect most government programs – including education. Although the deal reduced the cuts for this year from 8.2% to 5.1% they are still set to impact our FY2013 IDEA allocations – the ones we get in July! These extreme cuts will impact every school in the nation – and according to CEC members who are local special education directors – they will mean job losses. This will further hurt our ability to serve children and youth with disabilities appropriately.
A temporary fix is not enough. Tell Congress: Stop Cutting Education. Protect our investments in children, youth and education.
